Imagine – Corrupt State Cops…

One of the most useful things a person can do is to have the ability to imagine themselves in “someone else’s shoes”. The understanding gained by this practice can move mountains. With this in mind, I’m going to ask you to read this story and create a mental picture of how YOU would feel, react, etc. if this were you…

First in this little adventure of the mind, think back in time to those days of your youth, perhaps from the ages of 17 thru 21. I doubt that there are very many of us who do not have some wild and wooly “growing up” stories to tell, and perhaps some that we would rather leave untold. But thankfully these times go past quickly and we can take solace in the knowledge that our experiences as young people, no matter how crazy they may have been, are a part of what has made us into what we are today. This was an important part of our education as growing humans, but we made it thru to the “other side”, the realities of being an average “responsible adult”.

But supposing you lived in a place where the police were simply merciless in refusing to allow you to leave your temporary “childhood insanity” behind. A place where no matter what you did or how much you grew up, no matter how you altered your adult life, that you must continue to live with knowing that even a simple trip to town to the movie theater with your girlfriend could become an intimidating nightmare of police harassment.

Imagine going into adulthood having a “serious criminal history” of things like having the wrong last name or the wrong parents. Past traffic infractions like speeding, turning left in a no turning zone, or improper registration. Or the notoriety of having been seen a few times with people with “bad reputations”…

Imagine being so disliked by the police due to these things that you cannot get their help in times of emergency. Imagine being shot in the leg by an intruder, going to the hospital, making a statement about the shooting to the police, and then being accused of committing an armed robbery instead of being helped. Imagine the police telling as many BALD FACED lies as it takes to try to turn things around from the actual facts in order to support their impossible fantasies. Imagine being harassed by the police over and over again due to this fiction which they created, your family being harassed and threatened, you being told SEVERAL TIMES that they have enough evidence to arrest you RIGHT NOW. But for some strange reason they just never happen to get around to it. Instead they manage to dream up some DIFFERENT reason to arrest you, almost a year and a half after THAT particular supposed crime occured, grabbing you at gunpoint while you are on your way to work. Obviously they had nothing to arrest you on to begin with, so they just kept at it until they did find something they could use. Then your family is seriously victimized by the police using yet more BLATANT AND BALD FACED lies to accomplish their goals while you are sitting in jail for something you did not do, and waiting for someone to come up with your bail.

Now imagine, once having been arrested, having to go to court for this drummed up charge for at LEAST a couple MORE years. Your case keeps being held over, over and over again. You go thru at least 5 different lawyers because they all either claim there is some “conflict of interest” having to do with one of these imagined crimes that the police created but you were never charged with, or deciding they cannot be your lawyer because you refuse to take a plea bargain and say you are guilty of something you are not. You have eye witnesses to your whereabouts and actions and physical proof that you are being blackmailed by someone who simply does not like you and has an agenda of lying to get you in trouble, but no one in the legal system seems interested in these things.

Meanwhile you are 3 years older and wiser, your entire life has changed, you no longer associate with those questionable characters whose mere presence in your life has caused so much distruction. You are STILL refusing to accept a plea bargain (admission of guilt) and therefore a permanent large stain on your record that will follow you for a very long time. It begins to look as if the powers that be are DESPERATE to get a conviction at this point due to all the time and money they have put into persecuting you. You current lawyer tells you that the prosecuting attorney “doesn’t like you”, insinuating it’s personal. And in all of the State Police’s manipulation and lies, they grow even more determined to find ANYTHING they can pin on you so they can save face.

*Now, at this juncture, before you say anything and before I continue, I will say that this story is irrefutably and ABSOLUTELY TRUE with some details left out in order to save space and for legal reasons. This story WILL eventually be completed in its entirety and widely published as yet ANOTHER case of corruption, this time in ROANE COUNTY WV, comes to light. The editors of Calhoun Underground have connected with “people in high places” who are interested in this story and the possibilities of the entire Roane and Calhoun corruption scandal becoming national news grows daily.

And now for the rest of the story up to date.

…Continue to imagine still, being this harassed and hounded victim of the legal system. Imagine having stayed home and rarely going out in public for a couple years, feeling that perhaps the best thing to do is to stay “out of sight out of mind”. But a young person NEEDS some social life other than just his immediate neighborhood. And so you decide to go to Spencer to the movies. Your plan is to catch a ride with neighbors, go to a friends house and hang out there until it’s time to meet your girlfriend and the movie starts. It’s mid afternoon and you are in the town center. You get dropped off on the corner and proceed to walk the 3 blocks to your friend’s house. You barely make it across the street before two of Roane County’s most “dilligent” uniformed State Pests swoop down upon you, causing a public scene. They immediately tell you that they have THREE warrants for your arrest!!! They search you and grill you about someone they know perfectly well you don’t associate with any more and pretend to be completely unaware that the individual they are grilling you about has been sitting in jail for over a month. So, you are detained, told you are being arrested for WHAT? You are searched, humiliated and threatened in public in the middle of town in the middle of the day. Now, GUESS what happenes next. You will NEVER guess. But I dare you, just for fun…

copfinger-26_jpg.jpg

….Now that you have thought about this a while and made an educated guess, here is the correct answer. Let’s see how many guessed correctly…

The police look at you and say they WERE JUST KIDDING, there are no warrants for your arrest! And then they simply drive away.

This actually HAPPENED yesterday afternoon in downtown Spencer. You can discount the entire rest of the story if you like, based upon your own personal opinions and judgements, but the ultimate FACT that these officers detained ANY individual by making them THINK they were under arrest and then just telling him it was a joke and laughing about it is, putting it mildly, blatant HARASSMENT. Yes, there will be an official complaint filed. It is already known that these so-called official complaints do nothing due to the buddy system within ranks of these “public service” nuisances, but at least it will hopefully go on record…

Just don’t forget, YOUR TAX DOLLARS are footing the bill so that these bullies can be PAID to intimidate and TERRORIZE you, your friends, and your neighbors.

We live in a time when terrorism is the keyword when it comes to an excuse for having your life disrupted from the norms everyone has been used to for many years. We are ALL seen as terrorists until we can prove we are innocent. But that is backwards thinking that only the REAL criminals seem to believe. The police ARE the terrorists. They think if they can scare folks enough they can make their jobs easier. However, nobody ever claimed that cops were the sharpest tack in the box. Because what is actually happening is that they are getting so bad that even your ORDINARY “blind” and “sheep-like” citizen can see it. Evil enough to be corrupt but not smart enough to hide it.

If anyone reading this wants or needs to know the offending “enemy combatant officers” identities, just ask. However, I’d bet my bottom dollar that anyone with some experience with either of these corrupt and dangerous cops will KNOW who they are without having to ask.

SO, what would YOU do if it were you?

FAMOUS NOVELIST GRISHAM USES WV’S JUDICIAL CORRUPTION FOR NEW BOOK

(01/30/2008)
By Scott Finn

West Virginia Public Broadcasting

http://www.wvpubcast.org

West Virginia’s judiciary is getting national attention from one of America’s best-selling novelists, John Grisham.

In a recent interview, he said West Virginia was an inspiration for his new book on judicial corruption.

Today Show host Matt Lauer asked Grisham about “The Appeal” on the Today Show Tuesday morning.

Basically, it involves a chemical company,” Lauer said. “They contaminate the water in the community. There’s a cancer outbreak. People die. And there’s a $41 million jury award against this company. And the head of the company says, I’m not gonna pay it. What I’m gonna do is avoid paying it by stacking the court that’s eventually gonna hear the appeal on this case. Far fetched?”

“It’s already happened,” Grisham said. “It’s already happened.”

“It’s a long term calculation,” Lauer said. “You have to be pretty sure about the money you’re investing in this.”

“Well, it’s happened,” Grisham said. “It happened a few years ago in West Virginia. A guy who owned a coal company, got tired of getting sued. He elected his guy to the Supreme Court, it switched 5-4 back his way. Now he doesn’t worry about getting sued. So it happens. It’s already happened.”

Grisham got the number of Supreme Court justices wrong, but his main point was the $3 million Massey CEO Don Blankenship spent to help Justice Brent Benjamin win his seat in 2004.

And earlier this month, photos emerged of state Supreme Court Spike Maynard vacationing with Blankenship in the Riviera – at the same time that Maynard was judging a multi-million dollar case against Massey.

Both Maynard and Benjamin voted to overturn the verdict against Massey, which saved the company $76 million.

The plaintiffs in the case have appealed the decision, and now that the pictures have come out, Maynard has recused himself from the case.

Senator Jon Hunter said it’s pretty bad when West Virginia becomes John Grisham’s poster child for judicial corruption.

“When they asked him for a specific example, unfortunately, he said West Virginia,” Hunter said.

Senator John Yoder said that the stories are even echoing through the halls of the U.S. Supreme Court.

He said he was at the court Thursday night for a dinner, and everyone from law professors to justices focused on West Virginia’s judiciary.

One professor said he now uses West Virginia in his ethics class – as an example of what not to do.

“Everyone was talking about West Virginia and how bad it is,” Yoder said. “Everybody is laughing at us.”

Senator Jeff Kessler said he has a solution: a clean elections bill for the Judiciary. He said the public funding of judicial candidates would lessen the influence of money in elections.

He also attacked the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for calling West Virginia a judicial hellhole.

Senator Evan Jenkins has his own solution: the non-partisan election of judges. Jenkins has personal experience here – he ran for the state Supreme Court in 2000 and lost in the Democratic primary.

“As many of you know, very often I speak out in areas where West Virginia seems to be out of step,” Jenkins said. “And this is clearly an area where West Virginia is out of step.”

Jenkins urged Kessler to put the non-partisan election bill on the Judiciary Committee agenda.

“So let’s be reflective of the will of the public at least give the bill an opportunity to be discussed,” Jenkins said.

Kessler said the problem isn’t political parties – it’s the money behind the elections.

Legally, there’s no way to stop individuals like Blankenship from spending their own money on behalf of candidates. But Kessler said a clean elections bill would give other candidates a fighting chance.

Mysterious Blue Haze Envelopes Charleston, Nobody’s Worried…

Just a short note here on this wintry morning. Now, maybe I’ve read too many alternative news stories, maybe I’m just getting paranoid (who isn’t?) Maybe I’m taking George Orwell way too seriously, OR maybe I’m finally getting how this all works. Because let’s face it, times are getting WEIRD.

Did everyone hear about the “Mysterious Blue Haze” which covered our State Capitol of Charleston all the way to Saint Albans and beyond yesterday? Last seen heading towards Putnam County. No, I’m not kidding! It was apparently so thick in places that it rivalled that old familiar pea soup you’ve heard so much about, except that it was blue… It also reportedly had a chlorine type smell which seemed to bother peoples eyes and give assorted folks headaches. Lots of fingers were pointed as to where it came from, but after the initial warning telling people IN THE ENTIRE KANAWAH COUNTY AREA to stay indoors “if it bothered them”, the entire incident seems to be dissipating just like the mysterious fog was claimed to have done.

According to “official” media reports, nobody knows what it was or where it came from. Nobody in the Chemical Valley is “fessing up” to toxic spills or leaks. Investigators are coming up empty-handed.

Come on now folks! That was an AWFUL BIG AREA that was affected by that cloud. Enough to cause something resembling a mild panic among people in an entire city. Of course you can be certain that if there would have been a serious poisonous crisis floating about, the powers that be would have pretty much done JUST what they did yesterday; tell folks to stay indoors if it bothered them. Because if they decided to let an entire city full of people know they were about to be poisoned and tried to evacuate, just think what would have happened…

Remember, the media told everyone over and over again that the authorities DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS OR WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. So how did they know it was safe to only stay inside if it “bothered” you??? How can a situation so large be silently swept under the rug? In record time I might add. By the next day, no word on anything. Nobody knows. Don’t worry about it… At best this is terrible non-reporting by the media.

Now here comes the paranoid part. Just coincidentally on this very same day, at the very same time this was going on , our infamous King George Bush the 2nd just happened to be at a meeting at the GREENBRIER HOTEL in the very same state that this huge and mysterious fog appeared in. Ok, I know, I know, but nonetheless, the local officials blew off the entire “blue haze” thing to the public. Meanwhile, George Bush is just a stone’s throw away by hillbilly standards, in another part of the state having a tea party with other folks who are in process of shaping our futures as humans. And NOBODY seemed to be concerned about anything at all. Anywhere. Maybe it IS true that fluoride makes you stupid*…. *(Google “fluoride and Hitler”)

And just to add a bit to this very odd story/set of coincidences, in case you didn’t already know, underneath the Greenbrier Hotel and Resort is an UNDERGROUND BUNKER which was specifically built to house and protect selected politicians during national emergencies. SOME of this bunker has apparently been opened to the public but not ALL… I don’t know, someone with more time on their hands than I needs to research this some more, but I think that all this put together as one story is absolutely BIZARRE! There are way too many missing pieces to this puzzle. Any comments?

Annual Mental Health Evaluations For WVSP!

I thought this was something interesting enough to repost for your education. It remains to be seen whether or not this would actually HELP the current state of affairs in WV. State Police are excellent  actors, most likely the majority having missed their true calling in life, and unless someone were uncontrollably drooling and picking boogers they would probably be found mentally competent, ESPECIALLY if they should happen to be using the same folks who do psych-evaluations for the court system…..

Panel urges mental health screenings for police to curb suicides
Jan 21, 2008 @ 01:16 PM
The Associated Press

CHARLESTON, W.Va.  — West Virginia State Police is working to implement yearly behavioral health screenings for troopers based on recommendations from a panel studying suicides among law enforcement.

Gov. Joe Manchin sought the review after Cpl. Marlo Gonzales, 39, of Hurricane, a 13-year-veteran of the force, was found dead last fall in his cruiser from a bullet fired from his service weapon. His death was the second suicide by a West Virginia state trooper since 1999.

Joe Thornton, deputy secretary of the state Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety, said the goal is to implement all of the committee’s recommendations, though time and resources may cause some delays in putting them into practice.

While the existing system, including confidential counseling services, is adequate, the panel says in its Jan. 2 report to Manchin that more could be done, including erasing the stigma often associated with seeking help for emotional issues.

It suggested the agency try mandatory screenings for five years.

The agency also should do more to advertise the available mental health services and to help troopers feel more comfortable about seeking treatment.

The panel also recommended making psychological health and stability an integral part of performance ratings and reinforcing the occupational hazards of the job during recruit training.

It also suggests training supervisors to identify people who may need help and reviewing how prescribed medicines may affect troopers’ work.

Besides Thornton, the committee included John Linton, vice chair of the Department of Behavioral Medicine at West Virginia University; John Bianoni, commissioner of the West Virginia Bureau for Behavioral Health; and Carl “Butch” Berlin, a retired State Police lieutenant.

Border “Security” Causes Local Feed Shortages

Area farmers might get a bad surprise the next time they go to the feed store to buy feed for their livestock. With all the “new and improved” border security between the United States and Canada, some shipments of feed are being held up for as long as 3 weeks at a time. Which means that the local feed stores, particularly Southern States as of yesterday, are finding it difficult to impossible to stock enough various necessary animal feeds. The realities of Bush’s border security ideas may mean that some of your livestock will end up going hungry this winter while you are either forced to hurriedly purchase nonexistent hay for upwards of $3.00 to $6.00 a bale, or quickly sell off your animals for a big loss. The dry spell during last summer caused there to be a shortage of hay, and a quick scan of the Trading Post or the Market Bulletin will show that there is very little hay to be had without going to Ohio… One would imagine that they are capitalizing on the situation because they too experienced the drought of ’07.
This could be one more nail in the coffin of the “small farmer” in West Virginia, already pushed to the back burner by large agri-buiz farms owned by corporations from out of country.

I watched family farms, as a child, go belly up one by one because of lower market value of their products and always higher cost for necessities to run those farms. Those who went to the bank to satisfy their needs ended up selling their souls to a system that took them even farther down the tubes. Only the very creative and alternative thinking farmers have been able to stay afloat along with their debt ridden counterparts. On my dad’s dairy farm, we could not afford to raise our own meat, or make our own butter, or barely even drink our own milk because everything we had needed to be sold to make ends meet. And then we could not afford to buy these things at the store either. I can only imagine that it must be even harder now. Farming for a small farmer has become an expensive hobby at best unless they can figure out ways of getting around the many usual expenses.

So, it begins? The prices on staple foods at the grocery store go steadily up. The jobs go steadily bye-bye. The price of gas goes up. Supplies begin to run low due to border security. The roads fall apart and the taxes go up. People loose their jobs and can’t pay the taxes or the price of gas. Mortgages go past due. The banks own more and more of our homes and possessions. Everybody’s trying to sell their land and homes, but nobody’s buying because everybody is in the same boat. King Coal and our government “leaders” run roughshod over the citizens  of West Virginia, using the buddy system, while trying to scare everyone with words like “unemployment” so they won’t protest the state being sold out and destroyed by them in their hurry to grab the goods and run. Many of  the so-called financial experts are saying we are getting ready to have a depression that makes the first one look like a long holiday.

Revolution anyone?

…Viva La rEVOLution ! noituLOVEr aL aviV…
Now might be a good time to learn some survival skills and find some alternative transportation. Form alliances with your neighbors…
Grow a big garden, and like a repeat of the late 60’s-early 70’s, get “back to the land.”
