CALHOUN YOUTH DIES FROM GUNSHOT WOUND

Kia Quick (I hope I spelled that right) shot himself in the head Sunday night.This is a precedent setting scenario. It’s no wonder that the authorities are not releasing any information at this time. It would behoove them to tread lightly on this one.
The Quick family has lived in Calhoun County for at least 25 to 30 years. They’re nice folks. Very intelligent. Some people might label them as “hippys”. This alone could cause them inestimable trouble.
They decided a very long time ago to remove themselves entirely from the system. Their children, a large family in fact, were all born at home. They elected not to obtain birth certificates for their children. These kids never attended public school, but instead were home taught, recieving a quality education that public school could never begin to offer. I know one of them had his own auto mechanics enterprise by the time he was 13.
Basically this family has survived outside the system for many years, working very hard to live support themselves with no foodstamps, no welfare, no medicaid, none of the mandatory government ordered shots, no social security numbers. These people did not just sit around and talk about the utopian dream, they tried to LIVE it.
Kia must have been the “baby” of the family to the best of my recollection. My sources indicate that he was depressed because no one would hire him due to his not having a social security number. And of course, since 9-11, imagine how difficult it would be to obtain the “necessary documents” we all take for granted. These kids literally legally have NO citizenship ANYWHERE.
Just for the record, I found the Quicks attempt at staying out of the system to be extremely admirable. Many people including myself only wished they could do the same. And with all the evil and corruption in the system of today, I’m sure even MORE folks wish they could live like that and keep their children out of the hands of the government’s control. And so I see this 15 year old boy as being the ultimate casualty of a system in which every single soul must be properly documented in order to survive and live as slaves to the government.
My sincerest condolences go out to the Quicks, and I pray that this trouble is settled without a HUGE problem. What will the system do now?
